That’s Governor Robert Bentley this morning calling for a special session of the Alabama Legislature to begin next month. Thanks for joining us. I’m Carl Brady. The governor announced this morning that he will call the Legislature into special session beginning on August 15th to consider the lottery proposal he made earlier this week. That means the statewide lottery vote could be held at the same time as this November’s presidential election. When he first suggested the lottery on Wednesday, Bentley said the revenue it generates would go into the state’s general fund budget to help pay for essential services like Medicaid.
