High-Speed Chase Involving Stolen Car


A high-speed chase that began in Etowah County this afternoon ended in Georgia with one person being arrested and a stolen car recovered. Police say the chase began on Highway 411 North and continued into Cherokee County, where deputies and Leesburg police officers joined in the pursuit. The driver of the stolen car continued through downtown Centre where speeds exceeded 100 miles per hour, and Centre Police also joined in. The chase ended in Floyd County, Georgia, with one person being taken into custody. The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old David Phillips of Etowah County. The car he was driving had been reported stolen out of Conyers, Georgia. A female passenger inside the vehicle was unharmed, and there were no weapons found inside the car.
