Back to School Sales Tax Holiday

Saturday, August 6, 2016

Alabama is holding its eleventh annual Back To School Sales Tax Holiday. The holiday gives shoppers the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers, and clothing free of state sales or use tax. The Alabama Department of Revenue says local sales and use tax may apply. All counties in TV24’s coverage area are participating. However, St. Clair County is participating with limitation. In St. Clair County the "holiday" only applies to St. Clair County's 1% sales and use tax levied throughout the county. St. Clair County does not grant a holiday for the remaining 1% that is levied for education outside the city limits of Pell City. The holiday ends at midnight on Sunday.
