Chancellor Granted Leave of Absence

Thursday, August 11, 2016

The Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System has been granted a leave of absence due to health problems. In his request for the leave, Chancellor Mark Heinrich said that he has been suffering for several weeks from Shingles and that his recovery is requiring complex medical treatment. The system's Board of Trustees granted the chancellor's request during a meeting this morning and named Chief of Staff Jimmy Baker to serve as acting chancellor until Heinrich can return. Baker has worked in the Community College System since 2013 and was named Chief of Staff earlier this year.
