Activities Director Pleads Guilty to Sex Charges
A former activities director at an Attalla facility for at-risk youths pleads guilty to sex charges. The Office of the District Attorney of Etowah County says 63-year-old Roy Dean Pruett pleaded guilty to charges of sodomy and sexual abuse involving three minor victims at Eagle Rock Boys Ranch. Pruett had been accused of taking boys from the ranch to his house, where the abused occurred. The investigation began after four boys told authorities that Pruett had sexually abused them while he was at the ranch. According to the plea agreement, Pruett will be sentenced to 20 years in the sodomy cases and 10 years in the sex abuse cases. The sentences will run concurrently.
