Etowah County could soon have a new coroner. Members of the Etowah County Republican Party Executive Committee held a called meeting this evening to consider possible candidates for the position. Committee members heard presentations from 20 candidates for the appointment. Following the presentations, the committee decided to submit a trio of names for consideration. Members voted to recommend 20-year law enforcement veteran David Bankson - Paulette Chandler, a long-time volunteer with the Etowah County Sheriff's Office and numerous community projects - and London Pierce, a law enforcement officer with a criminal justice degree in Chemistry and forensic sciences. All three names will be submitted to Governor Robert Bentley, who will make the appointment to fill out the 2 years remaining on Head's elected term.
