The United Way of East Central Alabama is working every day to advance the common good and make a positive impact on local communities. It is constantly investing in areas of Education, Income and Health. Executive Director Shannon Jenkins says that at today’s 2016 United Way Campaign Kick-off they celebrate the community and signify the start of the annual Fall Giving Campaign. Jenkins says they are seeking to partner with others and invest in programs that achieve positive, lasting outcomes and create brighter opportunities for local people. 21 community partners had booths at today’s event. Jenkins says they meet the pressing needs of the most vulnerable of our community. He adds that their involvement today, reminds donors that the collective impact of their efforts will translate into better, more vibrant communities for all of us. Jenkins says there are several reasons to consider giving to United Way of East Central Alabama. He says of course, there are the obvious reasons. They do great things and your donation is tax-deductible. He says you can even designate to your favorite Community Partner. This year’s campaign goal is $918,000. It’s more than last year. Last year the agency raised $913,000.
