Disaster Loans Available for Local Businesses

The Small Business Administration announces the availability of disaster loans for local businesses and farms due to the ongoing drought. Small, non-farm businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of any size in Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, St. Clair, and Talladega Counties may qualify for Economic Injury Disaster Loans. The loans are upwards of $2-million. The loan will help meet financial obligations and operation expenses which could have been met had the disaster not taken place. Disaster loan information and application forms are available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling toll-free at 1.800.659.2955, or visiting SBA.GOV.
