Paddlers and spectators are coming together for a great event for the whole family. The Gadsden–Etowah Habitat for Humanity Dragon Boat Festival will take place in Gadsden from 9AM until 2PM at the Riverwalk Park behind Chili’s tomorrow. Participants are coming from Ohio, Georgia, Florida, and Texas as well as many cities and communities from around the Gadsden area. The all-girl Ladies of Gold’s Gym Dragons Team Captain Stacey Garmon says Gold’s Gym started planning their participation back in early May. The proceeds from the Dragon Boat Festival will benefit Gadsden-Etowah Habitat for Humanity and the building of the 50th house in Etowah County as the agency celebrates 20 years of service. The races will take place all day, but the action on the water is just part of the entertainment. There will be food vendors, a market area and kid’s dragon crafts. The JSU Tropical Breeze Steel Drum Band will perform, the drummer’s parade is always a popular event, there will be a CharACTers performance, face painting, balloon art, and an on-site photographer.
