Mayor and Volunteers Tackle Project

A crew of volunteer workers including one local mayor comes together to put up sound deadening panels in a local city meeting center. Weaver Mayor Wayne Willis says they built a great new city meeting center with a problem. The biggest room was loud with a lot of reverb. He says he compared the pricing of sound deadening panels and decided that $7,000 was too much for the city to spend. With that in mind… He bought some lumber and made some prototypes. That led to today’s event. He says it is just like an old-fashioned barn raising. It would have cost the city seven to eight-hundred dollars per panel if Willis had used the city’s money to pay for the project. Willis says the final cost was a total near $600.
