High Football School Awards: Week One

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Each Tuesday night in the season we hand out our High School Football Awards from the previous week’s performances. Week one winners are:

The Foothills Tractor Player of the Week is Austin Tucker of Ohatchee. The senior scored five touchdowns in the Indians 68-14 victory over White Plains. Tucker rushed for 187 yards on 12 carries, (good for just over 15 yards per touch). For his big win, Tucker will get a dinner for two at Local Joe's Restaurant. The Indians are 2-0 on the season and they’ll look to stay undefeated Friday night at Randolph County.

The first KFC Team of the Week is Jacksonville. The Golden Eagles claimed a very impressive 28-14 win over Alexandria (the Valley Cubs entered the contest as the No. 3 Class 5A team). The award comes with a free meal from KFC Wednesday night along with the Team of the Week T-shirts. Jacksonville is has an unblemished record at 2-0 as they open region play against Saks Friday night.
