Trial to Start for Man Accused in Hot SUV Death

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

Earlier this year, a judge moved the trial of the man accused of leaving his toddler inside a hot SUV. The trial of Justin Ross Harris was moved 300 miles away from metro Atlanta to Brunswick, Georgia. The move is to ensure an unbiased jury in the case. Harris has been in jail since his June 2014 arrest for malice, murder, and felony murder. Prosecutors claim Harris purposely left his 22-month-old son Cooper inside his SUV outside his office complex. The toddler died from the summer heat. Harris' attorneys call it a tragic accident. Opening statements are set to begin October 3RD. Prosecutors have chosen not to seek the death penalty in the case. If convicted, Harris will face life in prison.
