High Football School Awards: Week Five

Wednesday, September 28, 2016

Each Tuesday night in the season we hand out our High School football awards from the previous week’s performances. Week five winners:

The Foothills Tractor Player of the Week is Tyetus Smith-Lindsey of Oxford. Smith-Lindsey had a huge game Friday with 273 rushing yards on 43 carries and two touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets 29-21 victory over Ben Russell. As our Player of the Week, Smith-Lindsey will get a dinner for two at Local Joe’s Restaurant. He and the Yellow Jackets are a perfect 6-0 on the season as they get set to travel to Southside this Friday night.

Our KFC Team of the Week is Hokes Bluff. The Eagles knocked off arch-rival Glencoe 21-6 in week five. The victory snapped a three year losing streak to the Yellow Jackets. It also means the chicken, t-shirts and trophy will head out to Etowah County this week. TV24 Sports will catch up with the Eagles Wednesday night at the Team of the Week celebration. Hokes Bluff will face Oneonta in week six.
