Thursday, September 29, 2016

State Troopers have identified the three women killed when a truck hit their car head-on during a chase yesterday. 39-year-old Melanie Hurst, 43-year-old Melanie Trantham- and her 74-year-old mother, Joy Howell, were pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office says 20-year-old Jordan Baker was behind the wheel of the stolen truck that hit the car. He was airlifted to UAB hospital. At the time of the wreck, a Calhoun County deputy was attempting to get Baker to pull over. The crash happened on Old Gadsden Highway, two miles north of Anniston. Officials say they are reviewing dash camera footage from the deputy's patrol unit.
