Check Out a Dog at the Library

Friday, September 30, 2016

Libraries are known for their abundant array of books… People can come by and check out reading material that suits their whims. But, what if a library gave you the opportunity to check out a real life dog. The Jacksonville Public Library and the Cheaha Regional Humane Society have partnered for "Adopt A Shelter Dog Month" by 'checking out' a dog at the library. The humane society will have several adoptable dogs coming up this weekend. Library Specialist Amy Miller says she has been involved in animal rescue since she was young. Miller adds the shelter just took in 45 dogs and Saturday will be used as a day to socialize the dogs and find them forever homes. She says you can also help them celebrate by donating supplies or food for cats and dogs. Check Out a Dog Day will be held Saturday at the Jacksonville Public Library from 11am until 3pm. There will be 10 dogs in attendance.
