Salvation Army Opens Cold Night Shelter

Tuesday, January 12, 2016

The Anniston Salvation Army’s shelter opened its cold night shelter due to an overnight low forecast below thirty-two degrees. The cold night shelter provided protection and relief to homeless men and women who would otherwise be out in the elements all night. 20 men and 4 women were shelter guests. They were given a safe and warm place to sleep for the night. The Salvation Army’s mission is to make sure all sleep in warm beds. Officials say it is an important service that they provide for those who would have a difficult and possibly life-threatening night exposed to low temperatures. If you are interested in sponsoring a shelter guest for a night you can do so by donating $10 to the Anniston Salvation Army. The telephone number is256.236.5644.
