The US Forest Service conducts a controlled burn of nearly one-thousand acres of the Talladega National Forest. The prescribed burn was a controlled fire ignited by trained Forest Service personnel. According to Zone Dispatcher Noonan Phifer the burn took place east of the Coleman Lake campground, about five miles northeast of Edwardsville.
Winds carried the smoke to the northeast towards the Piney Woods area and impacted portions of Forest Service Roads and County Roads northeast of the burn. The smoke settled along Terrapin and Cane Creek.
