A shooting in Anniston’s Saks community results in the killing of one person and the injury of another. According to ALEA’s State Bureau of Investigation, 42-year-old Deatrice Barclay died in a shooting Friday night at 403 Permita Court and 23-year-old Joel Abbot was injured and is currently in stable condition. The victim’s uncle – Charles Barclay - sat down with TV24 and talked about his nephew who had lived in Saks for 15 years and worked at Gadsden’s Tyson Plant. Authorities say they are investigating the shooting at the request of the Anniston Police Department because the shooting involved an off-duty employee of the Anniston City Jail. Anniston city leader Mayor Vaughn Stewart says he too is awaiting the release of all the facts. He says Anniston and Calhoun County are better than the tragedy that happened Friday night. Barclay adds that he wants someone held accountable with an arrest by authorities. He says his family hopes that their loss can help another family.
