Annual Point In Time Count

Thursday, January 28, 2016

There are more than 20-thousand homeless in Anniston and Gadsden. Today their plight is front and center in a data gathering event called the Annual Point In Time Count. The Homeless Coalition of Northeast Alabama conducted the survey in and around our region and interviewed the homeless and those at-risk for homelessness. The Right Place Director Lori Floyd says the 24-hour data capture questionnaire gives them demographic information that can be put to use for potential resources. Floyd says they try to ask them a variety of questions-including some that are not on the form. Agencies that provide services to the homeless in our area were also interviewed. Floyd says The Right Place is constantly in need of blankets, scarves, and gloves. If you would like to give items or make a monetary donation contact them at 256-238-6231.
