One local Chamber of Commerce celebrates the success of the past year during its 37th Annual Meeting at the Oxford Civic Center. The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce swore in the new Board of Directors as they passed the gavel from Brian Woodfin of ABS Business Systems to the 2016 Chairman Gregory J. Kernion of New Leaf Marketing. Kernion has been a chamber member for 16 years and on the board for 5 years. He says he has served on every committee the chamber has to offer. He says one of the most important things the chamber provides is supportive involvement of chamber members. The Chamber also previewed their plan of action for the coming year. Kernion says the chamber’s main focus is membership with financial stability also a key goal. The chamber also announced the Chairman’s Cup Recipient and Ambassador of the Year at the meeting. The Calhoun County Chamber of Commerce achieved a four-star accreditation this year and will be evaluated again in four years. Kernion says they will then strive for a five-star rating.
