Alabama Joins Electronic Voter Registration

Wednesday, January 6, 2016

Secretary of State John Merrill has signed agreements to join the Electronic Registration Information Center and the Interstate Crosscheck in an effort to ensure that accurate and current voter registration rolls are maintained and increased access to voter registration for all eligible citizens is available. The Interstate Crosscheck will identify possible duplicate registrations among states, and provide evidence of possible double votes. Each eligible Alabamian of voting age, in the state of Alabama will be contacted through the US mail to ensure they are registered to vote, as well as see that they have obtained their government-issued voter photo ID. This will occur twice a year and is expected to begin in February.
