After a week of rest the Jacksonville State football team is gearing up for its first OVC test of the year. The Gamecocks will face Tennessee Tech in the first of seven straight conference matchups. JSU’s tough nonconference schedule has set them up well to start OVC play. The Gamecocks are 3-1 and coming off a 29 point win at Liberty. Now they enter OVC competition with a long streak going. The Gamecocks have won 17 in a row over league opponents and are chasing their third straight conference title; but according to them, the focus does not change.
Perhaps no one on the team benefitted from the bye week than wide receiver Josh Barge. The senior is healing up his ankle / foot that held him out of action early in the season. Barge played his first full game against Liberty made made some big plays including a punt return for a touchdown. He says he feels great as he heads into his final conference opener.
The Gamecocks and Golden Eagles square off from Burgess-Snow Stadium in Jacksonville Saturdayat 1:00 pm on TV24.
