Community Emergency Response Team Exercise

Friday, October 7, 2016

Being prepared to take action in an emergency situation can make all the difference. That’s why the Gadsden Etowah County Emergency Management agency encourages citizens to become involved in its Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT. The EMA held a CERT exercise today at Banks Park Community Center. It’s a culmination of three weeks of classroom training for those who signed up. Some of the CERT training includes light search and rescue and basic medical skills to bridge the gap until first responders can arrive at the scene. If you live in Etowah County, you can call the EMA office to sign up for the next round of Community Emergency Response Team training.
