Two Breast Cancer Survivors Recognized

This is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and tonight, we’re recognizing two educators from St. Clair County. Meg Lowry and Michelle Simmons both teach at Odenville Elementary School. Last year, the friends and co-workers were diagnosed with breast cancer. Lowry got her diagnosis first. After hearing the news and thinking about her family’s history of breast cancer, Simmons decided to get checked. That’s when she also learned she had breast cancer. After treatments and double mastectomies, each woman is cancer free today. Both women say it’s amazing how the community and the school rallied around them. You can support these women and others by participating in one of the numerous breast cancer events across the state this month.
