Girl Powered Robotics at White Plains

A local high school is getting girls involved and setting them up for a better and brighter future. Today is International Day of the Girl, and White Plains High School is promoting its Robotics, Education and Competition Foundation team. They have three teams A, B and C, the C team is made up of all girls. High School teacher and head coach of the Robotics team, Jonathan Shaw says, he hopes to encourage young girls to join the team. The team had a female student last year receive a robotics scholarship to Jacksonville State University. Shaw also says this is a great way to learn problem solving skills that will be useful in the future. The initiative this year is to promote women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics or STEM, it’s called "Girl Powered" this program encourages young women to get involved and enjoy the hands on learning.
