Selase Contesting Election Results

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Anniston Councilman Seyram Selase has announced plans to officially contest the results from the October 4 municipal runoff election. Selase lost his Ward 3 seat to former councilman Ben Little by just 10 votes. Selase has said that he believes there were irregularities in the voting process and tally of votes in the runoffs. A written statement from Selase reads in part:  “Upon closer examination we believe that the will of those casting legal votes in Ward 3 has not produced the proper result. For that reason, I have elected to Contest this election to ensure that Ward 3 has properly voted its will, free of influence or improper conduct affecting the election.” TV24 reached out to Ben Little for a response to this action and he said that he didn’t do anything wrong.  Little added that he’d like to tell the people in Ward 3 that everything is going to be okay and that he intends to take his seat on the council next month.
