High Football School Awards: Week Eight

Each Tuesday night in the season we hand out our High School football awards from the previous week’s performances. Week eight winners:

The Foothills Tractor Player of the Week is Hokes Bluff running back Darrian Meads. The freshman was sensational in the Eagles' 35-6 win over Anniston Fridaynight. Meads recorded 207 yards on 21 carries and scored four touchdowns. Meads TD runs were 5, 7, 25 and 50 yards. As the Player of the Week, Meads will receive a dinner for two at Local Joe’s Restaurant. Hokes Bluff is one of the hottest teams in the area this season. After starting 0-3, Meads and the Eagles have won five in a row and they will face Saks in the final region game of the season this Friday night (Oct. 21).

The KFC Team of the Week is Piedmont. The top ranked Bulldogs stayed true to form with an impressive 45-35 road win over then-No.7 Ohatchee in a highly anticipated game at the Creek Bank. As our team of the week the Bulldogs will enjoy the chicken on Wednesday night. They will also pick up the team of the week t-shirts and trophy. Piedmont remains perfect on the season with a 9-0 mark overall and 6-0 in region play. The Bulldogs have an open date this week before closing out the regular season against Oneonta on October 28th.
