The city of Jacksonville is making progress on its new safety complex. Assistant Police Chief Bill Wineman gave TV24 a look inside the new facility today. The new complex is going up behind Walmart near the high school. It's filled with state of the art equipment. Once completed, the complex will house the police department, fire department, municipal court, municipal jail and the Jacksonville Civil Service Board. Some people have voiced safety concerns about the jail being located near the high school and several neighborhoods, but Wineman says the building is going to be secure. The city broke ground on the complex in March and they are hoping to have it finished before Christmas. Wineman also says the complex will be next to a park complete with a walking trail and fishing pond.
