A local historic theatre is lighting up the town in a new way. Downtown Gadsden has made an improvement to the Pitman Theatre. The much needed work on the vertical sign and marquee was recently completed and made possible due to a variety of fundraisers and generous donations. Gadsden Mayor, Sherman Guyton says, he remembers when Pitman Theatre first got its first upgrade. Guyton is a native to the area and says he can also remember going to the Pitman Theatre to catch a film. The theatre opened in 1947. The City of Gadsden purchased the theatre in 1986 and today it is a great place to hold weddings, auctions and other events.
