High Football School Awards: Week Nine

Each Tuesday night in the season we hand out our High School football awards from the previous week’s performances. Week nine winners:

The Foothills Tractor Player of the Week is Isaiha Jones of Cedar Bluff. The junior posted 260 rushing yards on 20 carries and scored all four touchdowns in the Tigers' 29-24 victory over previously unbeaten Spring Garden. As the Player of the Week Jones will receive a dinner for two at Local Joe’s Restaurant. Jones and the Tigers captured the Class 1A Region 6 crown on Friday night. Cedar Bluff is on a four-game winning streak as they prepare to travel to Sand Rock for the season finale in week 10 (Oct. 28).

The KFC Team of the Week is Saks. The Wildcats put an end to Hokes Bluff’s five game winning streak with a 34-28 win at Jack Stewart Field. This Thursday night the entire team will enjoy the KFC Team of the Week meal as well as the t-shirts and trophy. Saks is one of the hottest teams in recent weeks. The club has won three straight games and six of their last seven. The Wildcats have locked up a spot in the playoffs as they get ready for the final regular season game at county-rival Weaver (Oct. 28).
