Parent Education Class

A local high school is educating parents and guardians on the dangers their children could be exposed to. Alexandria High School asked Sheriff Matthew Wade to discuss with parents internet safety, dangerous apps, cyber bullying, social networking and the law. Sheriff Wade also talked with parents about how to verify what their children are doing and who they are talking to. The sheriff says kids today have more access to many different types of technology than parents did growing up. Wade also says that every year the police department has 15- 20 students who get in trouble for sexting. For parents who want more information they can call the sheriff’s office, visit the family links website, talk to the school counselor, or the school resource officer.
