Gas Line Explosion in Shelby County

In tonight’s top story, a gas line explosion leaves several severely burned and many acres on fire. Fire departments from across the Birmingham area are responding to a gasoline line explosion in Shelby County. According to public safety radio reports, 7 people have been severely burned. The explosion was reported to be in the 300 block of Grey Hill Road in the area of River Road and Highway 13. Firefighters from Bessemer, Birmingham, Indian Ford and McAdory departments are assisting. Both pipelines running through the area have been shut down. Roadways in the area will remain closed to all the public in order to allow emergency personnel access. We will have more information as it becomes available.
