Colonial Pipeline Explosions in Shelby County

Colonial Pipeline officials are continuing to work with federal, state and local agencies to monitor the situation at the site of a fire in Shelby County. Colonial Pipeline representatives say they are also focused on the safety of first responders and the families impacted by the tragedy. A track hoe hit a gasoline line while working at the Colonial site yesterday afternoon, sparking a fire and triggering explosions. The incident killed one worker and sent 5 others to the hospital. The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration currently has control of the site while the fire continues to burn, but Colonial expects to be able to get into the site in the next couple of days. The fire caused prices at the pump to rise by a dollar per gallon in some areas due to fears of a gas shortage after this incident.
