An East Alabama Thanksgiving program needs donations and volunteers. The Etowah County CommUnity Thanksgiving Celebration will once again be held on Thanksgiving Day in Gadsden. Organizers say that donations have been a little slow this year, so they are making a plea to the community to step up its support. The celebration began in 1998, and will serve about 5,000 free Thanksgiving meals to anyone who wants one. The meals will be served at Convention Hall, and delivery will be available for those who are homebound. In addition to monetary donations, there is a need for volunteers to work in all aspects of preparing and delivering the meals. If you can help by volunteering or donating, contact the United Way of Etowah County or simply dial 211/First Call for Help for more information. You can also find all of the details on their Facebook event page.
