Good News for State Parks

Thursday, November 10, 2016

A record number in Alabama ballot results are in. Yesterday’s election people voted in favor of the 2nd Amendment. The Amendment will secure the state parks funding and promises a sustainable future for the parks. The 2nd Amendment was added to the ballot after 15-million dollars was transferred from the parks budget to the General Fund between 2012 and 2015. The lack of funds crippled the parks and exhausted their reserve funds. Last year, 5 parks closed and numerous other facilities were shut down. Now the parks will attract millions each year and contribute more than 300-million dollars in economic impact to the entire state.
