People using a busy walking and biking trail will soon have a new place to stop and rest. The Calhoun County Commission has agreed to build a new park at the intersection of the Chief Ladiga Trail and Jacksonville-Alexandria Road. Commissioner Lee Patterson says phase 1 includes a picnic area and bridge painted JSU red-along with a parking lot and special lighting. Patterson hopes Phase 2 plans will include a playground and restrooms. The county hopes to complete the park by next spring.
