A Calhoun County man that once led the county’s environmental programs is charged with rape. David Pirritano was a county employee until June of last year, when police say he fled the county to avoid an investigation in regards to fathering a child with a then-teenage girl he’s accused of raping back in 2001. Pirritano was arrested by federal agents in Croatia and returned to the U.S. earlier this year. He plead guilty to second- degree rape yesterday, and will spend three years in a state prison and the remaining 12 years on probation. He must also register as a sex offender.
