Gwen Ifill Dies of Cancer at 61
Veteran journalist Gwen Ifill has died of cancer at the age of 61. Ifill battled endometrial cancer while covering this year’s presidential election. She began co-hosting PBS Newshour with Judy Woodruff in 2013. Previously, Ifill served as moderator of the network’s “Washington Week in Review.” She also moderated Vice-Presidential debates in 2004 and 2008, as well as one of the democratic primary debates this year. Ifill’s illness forced her to take a leave of absence from Newshour back in May. Ifill’s career also included time with NBC news, The Washington Post, and New York Times.
