19 firefighters are now ready to join the ranks of those who protect our communities on a daily basis. The Anniston Regional Fire Training Center held a graduation ceremony for its latest students today. The ceremony took place in Gadsden because the new facility in Anniston is still under construction. This is the first class from Anniston that didn't have to go all the way to the fire college in Tuscaloosa. The regional training center prepares Alabama’s firefighters and first responders to protect communities from the loss of lives and property. The men and women went through 10 weeks of intense training to prepare them for what they will encounter. Training Officer Captain, Johnnie Phelps has been with the center for 16 years. Graduate Philip Snyder will be working for the Anniston Fire Department. He says even though the training is difficult, he's going to miss every minute of it. The graduating class was made up of men and women from several cities and counties.
