There are only four teams still practicing football in Classes 1A-6A this week. Winners on Friday night claim a spot at the Super 7 Championships at Auburn.
If you’re looking for a great underdog story, you have got one in Hokes Bluff. After starting the season 0-3, you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone who thought the Eagles would still be playing on Thanksgiving week, but against the odds, they are here. Hokes Bluff is the only team that entered the playoffs as a No. 4 seed that is still alive in the bracket. They have been the underdog in all three playoff games so far and will be again Fridaynight against Madison Academy, but this is a confidence bunch so they don’t mind that role.
(Hear from Eagles head coach Mike Robertson in the featured video.)
Madison Academy enters the matchup 10-3 on the season, meanwhile Hokes Bluff has won nine of its last ten games. Their last victory was over region 5 champion Cherokee County and they will take the lessons learned from that game into this week.
