There seems to be no more fitting way to determine a champion in the 3A North than to have Piedmont and Ohatchee battle it out in a huge rematch.
The Calhoun County foes squared off October 14th at the Creek Bank. Piedmont won 45-35 and captured the region championship. A lot more is at stake this time around in Piedmont with winner punching their ticket to the state championship game in Auburn. Of course, a lot of football has been played since their first matchup. Piedmont head coach Steve Smith says the key this time around is to leave the previous game exactly where it is - six weeks in the past.
For all the teams playing this week the schedule becomes a balancing act. Coaches have to manage players with no classes, the Thanksgiving holiday and preparing for the biggest game of the season.
