Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Thanks to a federal grant, one university is likely to be the only accredited forensic entity in the state. Jacksonville State University’s Center for Applied Forensics is set to receive its second federal grant for a little more than 34-thousand-dollars. The center plans to use the money to apply for accreditation.  JSU’s Senior Forensic Scientist, Mark Hopwood talks about what this means. The team works in 7 different counties and works long hours. Hopwood also says that the resolutions they come up with can result in quicker convictions for crimes. Hopwood adds that even though November has been a busy month for his team, he is looking forward to what the future holds for the Applied Forensics Center.
