Tuesday, November 29, 2016

An Attalla woman is behind bars for using drugs while pregnant. Miranda Merry is charged with chemical endangerment of a child. Authorities initially booked Merry into the Etowah County Detention Center on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance and that’s when she told jailers she was pregnant. According to the sheriff’s investigators, Merry tested positive for opiates, amphetamine and methamphetamine and she admitted to using those drugs and others. However, Merry claimed that she has only used meth since she found out she was pregnant. As a condition of her $10,000 cash bond, Merry must be supervised by Etowah County Community Corrections and must complete a drug treatment program.
