Thursday, December 1, 2016

The death toll from the wildfires in Gatlinburg now stands at seven. Fire officials say heavy rain has helped firefighters in the area today, but there are still active fires burning. So far, at least 400 structures in the greater Gatlinburg area have been destroyed or damaged by the flames. Officials say it could take weeks to know the overall extent of the damage. Thousands of tourists and residents have been forced to evacuate the popular vacation area. During this time of giving and tragedy a Pell City couple is gathering supplies and heading to Gatlinburg, Tonya Martin and Rickey Martin will be accepting basic essentials; clothes, blankets, water, or food. If you would like to donate, you can drop off items at 900 Dogwood Drive, before 9 tomorrow morning.
