Local Group Holds Rummage Sale

Tuesday, December 6, 2016

A student run organization at a local college is doing some good for others and the Earth. The TRIO of Success Club at Gadsden State Community College is held a rummage sale for students who might be in need. Gadsden State students and faculty were asked to donate new and gently used items. Students could then come and pay a five-dollar fee and fill a recyclable basket of as many items as they need. The organization is also working with the college about taking advantage of recycling. TRIO of Success Club member, Amanda Baxter says there’s a lot of work to be done. The club also took part in a drive to benefit Samarian’s Purse International’s Operation Christmas Child. A project where members took shoeboxes and filled them with washcloths, soaps, school supplies and small toys. Then those boxes are sent to children all over the world. The club is still in its early stages, but they hope to grow.
