Calhoun County Tornado Awareness Course

As cleanup continues from a tornado that killed three people in Jackson County last week, officials remind people that the storms can strike anywhere and that it’s important to be prepared. Calhoun County hosted a Tornado Awareness course today in Oxford to educate people on how to protect themselves and their families. People in attendance participated in drills and gathered some general knowledge of tornadoes. National Weather Service Warning Coordinator Meteorologist, John De Block says, it’s important that people know what to do. The course covered a basic understanding of tornado science, the weather forecasting process, and the tornado warning process.
