Association of County Commissions Seeks Approval

Saturday, December 10, 2016

The Association of County Commissions approved a plan to seek legislative approval of a 1.2 billion dollar bond issue for road construction during the next year’s legislative session. The plan calls for a three-cent tax on gasoline in order to pay off the bonds. The tax would expire once the bonds are paid off. None of the counties present voted against the plan. ACCA Executive Director Sonny Brasfield said about 53 counties were represented at the meeting. The legislative session begins February 7th.
