Some new census numbers are in, and some local cities seeing a change in their poverty levels. New census numbers shows Anniston and Piedmont have seen a rise in poverty levels over the past four years. However for Oxford and Weaver that number has dropped. Oxford has had retail growth and Weaver has attracted new homeowners and seen property values and home sales prices rise. Weaver Mayor, Wayne Willis says the decrease is no surprise. The data shows that while the poverty levels have dropped, in Weaver, the population has grown as well. Mayor Willis says that Weaver is becoming a destination instead of just a town to pass through.
