Along with four other states, Alabama received a “D” in financial literacy. The state was given grades of C, D, or F in 56 of the survey’s 71 literacy categories. The state’s highest grade in a major category was a C in Saving and Spending. The state received a D-plus in Financial Knowledge, D in Credit, D-minus in Retirement Readiness and F in Insurance. However Alabama did receive an A in availability of high school financial literacy education.
