Four Drown in SUV Accident

Thursday, December 15, 2016

An SUV with seven people inside plunges into a river, leaving 4 dead and one unaccounted for. The Saturn Outlook drove off a boat ramp into Weiss Lake at Leesburg Landing last night. Authorities say Robert Hardin, Christy Hobson, Cheryl Hobson and Dale Steven Keener all drowned. Authorities received a call just before 7 Tuesday evening after a camper heard a woman screaming. Two of the passengers escaped the vehicle and were taken to a Gadsden hospital where they were treated and released. Another of the occupants, Bobby Shore, has not yet been found. Cherokee County Coroner, Jeremy Deaton says that situations like this take time. Deaton also says that at the time of the accident there was light fog and a little rain, but nothing severe. The ramp where the SUV entered the water is at least two football fields from the main road.
